Wave Methods from Wave King Vega Smith

What’s good wavers! I know it’s been a while since the last blog post, but I’m back! New Year! Bigger and better things happening!! Last year was good, but I plan on making this one GREAT! I see the Waving community is becoming stronger and stronger each day, so I’m back at work to provide y'all with the newest and latest wave info.

Let’s get down to business!

The topic today is Methods, and which ones work the best. To figure this out you have to know your hair and what works best for it. Let’s remember everyone’s hair texture is different.

For example: if you have really curly hair all you want to do is lay the curls down right? All you need is something to control your curls, because let’s not forget waves are nothing more but laid down curls! So I recommend just using a couple of daily training methods to lay your curls down.

Before doing any of these methods make sure to have your hair damp before applying any products.

  • Apply a moisturizer and a holding product such as Brushing Oil and Spinn' Classic.
  • Massage it in your hair thoroughly
  • Brush in products for a minimum of 2 minutes
  • Make sure you have your hair laid in the directions you desire
  • Run lukewarm water over the dome part of your durag, tie it on and wear it until it’s dry

Now you can repeat this method as much as you want to, but I would suggest only using the last direction in between washes. This will help in the training of your hair after those intense brushing sessions.

Now for the method for straight haired wavers. Now for you things may be a little more difficult. Don’t worry about hold until your hair starts to curl up.

  • Moisturize
  • Brush
  • Durag
  • Repeat

Your main focus is to wolf your hair until it starts to curl then you can switch to the curly hair method. I suggest doing the steps in cycles, the same way you’d do circuits when you’re weight training . Moisturize your hair, brush intensely, and then durag your hair. Remember brushing is key. Brushing stimulates hair growth which in turn gets you the fastest wolfing results, allowing your hair to curl and create the waves!

Until next time KEEP BRUSHING WAVERS! Vega Signing off!
