Wavebuilder: How long have you had waves?
Jaibreyon Lourens: I’ve had waves for almost 3 years, but I really started taking waving serious in the summer of last year.
WB: What is your wave building routine?
JL: I comb my pattern out before every session then I brush. Product wise I wash 2x a week, do a omb 2x a week, a clay and lay once a week on long wolfs and apply some oils if I'm going out to get the waves extra silky
WB: What are your favorite wave building products?
JL: I really like oils, I use jojoba oil, argan oil, and avocado oil. Because getting products is hard for me being a waver overseas I did my research and made my own products like a moisturizer.
WB: What kind of brush do you use, and how often do you brush?
JL: I use Torino pro’s a lot, those are good brushes The Guru brushes are also in my heavy rotation lately, Well my mom says I brush too often but I don’t believe her lol😆
I try to brush 2 times a day and brush when I got time my sessions be well over an hour+ lately.
WB: Besides building waves what do you like to do?
JL: I’m a black belt in Taekwondo 🥋 and I train 2x a week now bc of the Covid measures. I’m a young guy so I also like to party and go out with friends.
WB: What do girls love about your waves?
JL: They like the silkyness of them and that my hairstyle is unique. There aren’t a lot of real wavers in the Netherlands and I’m trying to change that. So all the ladies always be like oh your hair is beautiful how do you do that? Every waver knows what I’m talking about.
WB: Any advice for those just starting out?
JL: Brushing is really key. Pick a pattern and get a consistent routine in. I always say it’s a marathon not a sprint. It’ll take time getting a good pattern just trust the process.
WB: How does it feel to be Wave King?
JL: It feels great, I was really hyped when I got the title because I really did my best for it and it’s another step to make waving worldwide being the first waveking from Europe.
